Google News has been updated with a new user interface using a card format in order to provide greater readability to the channel. The new design provides the publisher name, as well as labels intended to allow a reader to quickly browse articles within the same category. The update to the design was announced on Google’s blog on June 27, 2017.
Much like Gmail’s use of multiple email boxes to sort mail, Google News will now categorize the news in three categories, “headlines”, “local” and “for you”, in order to better organize news feeds.
Last year, Google introduced ‘fact check’ for publishers creating stories which contain fact check information. Google’s redesign gives fact checked articles a more prominent space on the reader’s screen.
