The U.S. Attorney’s Office has released a statement that Ahmad Khan Rahami, the alleged Chelsea bomber, has appeared in a Southern District of New York federal court today to face terrorism charges.

The government alleges that Mr. Ahmad Khan Rahami was “driven by a commitment to violent jihad”, and as a result of his actions, over “30 people” were injured following the explosions.

The case will be heard by U.S. Magistrate Judge Sarah Netburn. Judge Netburn joined the court in 2012, and prior to her service on the court, served as chief counsel to the office of pro se litigation.
